MADE NEW – HOW EASTER CHANGES EVERYTHING
The significance of Jesus’ death and resurrection is the hope and joy that comes with a new life in Christ.
We must never underestimate the importance of Easter, a time when the world without realising it celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ by the act of giving and consuming easter eggs, chocolate bunnies and hot cross buns, along with the giving of other bunny figures and flowers, plus enjoying a day off on Bank Holiday Easter Monday.
In general, though the world does not deny the existence of Jesus, the world chooses to believe that Jesus died on the cross, but chooses not to believe is the fact that Jesus arose from the dead. So what is the significance of the resurrection?
The resurrection gives those who accept Jesus as their Saviour a living hope and experience hopeful living, and because Jesus Christ is alive we have a glorious future "....because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation...." (1 Peter 1:3–5).
This living hope, for those who accept Jesus as their Saviour, is that one day we will be raised to be like Him "And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope...." (1 Thess. 4:13–18) which verifies our future resurrection and place in Heaven.
