WHAT's STOPPING YOU?
At Beacon, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to accept Jesus as their Saviour and secure their place in Heaven.
We cannot earn our way into Heaven by being good or doing good deeds; it's simply not possible by our own efforts, nor does it happen automatically. However, by putting our trust in Jesus, we find a way to salvation. Through Jesus, we gain access to a relationship with God, our Heavenly Father, and secure our place in Heaven.
This is confirmed in one of the most comforting and frequently used readings at both traditional and modern funeral services. It offers a message of eternal life and hope, reminding mourners that physical death is not the end for those who have faith in Jesus. “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.” - John 11:25-26.
Think about your life for a moment. What might be stopping you from accepting Jesus as your Saviour? It could be any number of things, or it could simply be that no one has introduced you to what it means to have Jesus in your life. You will find peace with God and yourself, and you will have hope.
So, take some time out today to reflect on your feelings. Chances are you’ve prayed at some point in your life, so pray now, inviting your Heavenly Father to show you anything that might be holding you back from embracing Jesus as your Saviour.
One of the first things that happens when we accept Jesus as our Saviour is the wonderful realisation of our need to turn from the direction of life we have been following. This is known as repentance, and a crucial part of accepting Jesus as our Saviour is understanding that restoration follows repentance. As we genuinely repent, we are restored, the kingdom of heaven is released, and we begin a very personal and loving relationship with God, our Heavenly Father.
Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection made a way for us to have a relationship with God. Jesus gave His life once and for all for our mistakes. Our past, present, and future mistakes are forgiven through Jesus. In fact, when you accept Jesus as your Saviour, nothing can separate you from the love God has for you.
Think about God’s great love and grace for you. Do you want to feel forgiven and set free? Or do you want to feel weighed down by your past mistakes forever? Spend some time talking to God, thanking Him for what He has done for you, and over the next few Sundays, join us at Beacon to experience the love that God has for those who put their trust in His Son, Jesus.
